SPRING BREAK: MARCH 25 - APRIL 1

and APRIL 15 - 22

Sunday and Monday: Depart Chicago on Sunday early evening; arrive Monday morning. Your own transport to Hotel des Arts 5 rue Tholozé. Lunch* and afternoon free to explore picturesque Montmartre.  Early evening rendez-vous in the intimate sitting room at Hotel des Arts. Welcoming dinner at La Pomponette

Tuesday: 9:00 AM visit to food shops along rue Lepic to select ingredients for lunch. 10:30 AM to 1 PM: interactive cooking class in Madelaine’s kitchen at 59, rue du Mont Cenis. Remainder of afternoon and evening* are open.


Wednesday: Depart hotel at 9:00 AM.  Travel by Metro to Les Halles for a walking tour of cooking equipment stores on rue Montmartre: Dehillerin, and A. Simon ending with the Libraire Gourmande which boasts cookbooks in both French and English. Lunch* in a charming 19th century covered passageway restaurant*. 7:30PM dinner at a new gastronomic restaurant La Table d’Eugene two blocks from Madelaine’s apartment.


Thursday: Depart 9AM for the rue de Poteau market street near Madelaine’s apartment to shop for ingredients. 10:00 AM - noon interactive class followed by lunch. 3:30 PM depart from Place des Abbesses on a walking tour of ‘The Village of Montmartre’ to discover the vineyard, artists’ studios, quiet gardens, renown cabarets, place-du-Tertre and Sacre Coeur. The evening* is open.


Friday: Departure at 9:00 AM to visit Poilâne Bakery and La Grande Epicerie at Bon Marche. Lunch at Le Souffle. Afternoon and evening* are open.


Saturday: 9AM departure for Paris’s only organic (the French say ‘bio’) market on Blvd Batignolles followed by an interactive cooking class and lunch at Madelaine’s apartment. Introductory visit in the afternoon to the amazing Marche aux Puces. 7:30 PM departure on foot for a farewell dinner at the nearby La Miroir restaurant on rue des Martyrs.
